Bomchil and Sáenz Valiente advise on Metrotel’s USD 450 million acquisition of assets from Telecom and Telefónica Argentina
The deal is part of the divestment required to approve Telecom’s acquisition of Telefónica Argentina and includes customers, spectrum use rights and fibre-optic assets

Bomchil and Sáenz Valiente & Asociados advised C.P.S. Comunicaciones S.A. (Metrotel) on its acquisition of assets from Telecom Argentina S.A. and Telefónica Móviles Argentina S.A., as part of the divestment process required by the Autoridad Nacional de la Competencia as a condition for approving Telecom’s acquisition of Telefónica Argentina.
Bomchil represented Metrotel, as buyer, while Sáenz Valiente & Asociados advised Telecom and Telefónica Argentina, as sellers.
The definitive agreements were signed on 14 October 2026, after the Tribunal de Defensa de la Competencia approved Metrotel as the buyer. The total deal value is USD 450 million.
The transaction includes the transfer of customers for mobile, fixed-line and residential internet services; the assignment of rights to use certain radio spectrum held by Telefónica Argentina; and assets forming part of its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the City of Buenos Aires, among others.
The acquisition is part of the divestment measures intended to preserve competition following the merger between Telecom and Telefónica Argentina. For Metrotel, it represents an expansion of its broadband business and its entry into the mobile services market, where it aims to operate alongside Claro and Personal.
