Arias advises FMO on financing of up to 23 million dollars for Volcafe

Arias has announced its role as local counsel in Costa Rica and Honduras to FMO, the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank, in financing Volcafe, a leading global green coffee merchant, for up to 23 million US dollars. The financing will support the working capital needed to source and commerce coffee.

The team assisted FMO in structuring the loan and security documents, such as the mortgage deed, promissory notes, and collateral agency agreement. A global financing structure has been established, including creating a first-lien mortgage in Costa Rica. This mortgage served as collateral, ensuring the lender’s priority claim over the assets in the event of default.

The team that led the transaction was comprised by Diego Gallegos (Partner, Costa Rica), Mario Agüero (Partner, Honduras), Arianne Silva (Senior Associate, Costa Rica) and Mariana García (Paralegal, Costa Rica) .
