Bertha is a partner at Consortium Legal - Nicaragua. With more than 40 years of experience in employment law, in both administrative proceedings before the Ministry of Labour (MITRAB) and judicial proceedings before the Labour Courts, she specialises in corporate and employment law. She has extensive experience advising on employment contracts, collective bargaining, internal regulations, human resources policies, outsourcing, part-time work, employment settlements, administrative proceedings to suspend and terminate employment contracts, labour inspections before MITRAB, and employment litigation involving claims for social benefits, dismissals and special proceedings concerning violations of fundamental rights, among other matters.
She is an associate professor at Universidad Centroamérica (UCA), where she teaches Labour Law and Labour Procedure. She is an accredited mediator and arbitrator before the Alternative Dispute Resolution Directorate of the Supreme Court of Justice.
She has served as a consultant to the Ministry of Labour on projects including the 2008 and 2010 Administrative Case Law Thesaurus, the Oral Labour Administrative Procedure (PALO) and the Protocol for Individual and Collective Conciliators. During her career, she has worked as a consultant for the ILO, BETTER WORK and FUNPADEM, and as a lecturer at the Judicial School.
