Lionel is a founding partner of Consortium Legal - Guatemala. With more than 30 years of experience in employment law advice and litigation, he has created and led new practice areas, including tax criminal law and immigration advice for expatriates at multinational corporations, securing the permits and licences they need to work in Guatemala. He also promoted and led the compliance practice, focused primarily on criminal law, helping prevent legal representatives from being drawn into criminal proceedings. He drafted the labour inspectors’ manual, sponsored by AID. He has also negotiated collective agreements with unions in the electricity, sugar, banana, industrial and commercial sectors. He has served on labour justice commissions and represented labour organisations at national and international congresses.
He has advised national and multinational groups, banks and local companies on employment and social security matters. He has also served on examination panels for labour law students at the Faculty of Law of Universidad Francisco Marroquín and Universidad Rafael Landívar in Guatemala.
